The Outborn : Seven (Review)

First release for Montreal, Death Metal, The Outborn. That is one interesting twist to the extreme style. In fact, they go toward a progressive sound and it's impressive to hear the different speeds and ideas blend together to bring us something unique. I was surprised by the amount of creativity from the band to bring us this new album. The album is inspired by the seven deadly sins hence the title Seven. The name of the songs is obviously the sins: Gluttony, Wrath, Pride, and etc. The music of Outborn is great. They have some stop and go moments in the music that you want to experience live. The weight of the whole thing is so heavy, that you have to make sure that you listen with the volume set to the max. Even if they are progressive in their approach they still feel like a death metal band, they do not sound like a math metal band.

They have that rough edge in their music. The voice is scorched from the throat. The Drum is part of the music, the variety of beats in every song is monumental. The Bass is so good, part playing the melody, part playing the rhythm, I liked the lines it has on Gluttony, it came out very well, and the effect on it, is grainy. The groove it has on Lust, it brings a different vibe in the music. The guitars are intense with the different sonority they explore. They always have something new, they have some oriental sororities in Wrath, a more hard rock sound on Sloth, a groovy sound in Envy. All the songs have their own flavour and the result is prodigious. The death metal of the Outborn is different and sounds superb, I feel that the live version of the songs will be something to experience. Their music is heavy and harsh, nothing too fancy, rough and hard like it is supposed to be. Great album, loved it. Facebook Bandcamp
