Grow Rich : Cash to Kyodo (Review)
Grow Rich is the solo project of Abdur Rahim Latada. There's currently has two great songs available online. clearly the 90s were an inspiration. I would say that Sonic Youth and Smashing Pumpkins came to my mind when I heard the music for the first time. Great stuff with some kind of a shoegazing feel to it. I enjoyed the weight of the song, Cash To Kyodo, the rhythm guitar has a great distortion, there's also a strong melody going through the song. the bass and the drums have a good speed and they add to the strength of the song. The lyrics are catchy and fun, they are talking about Stan Lee but more in a random way, no reference really to the creator of spider man. The second song, Cirrus The Virus, is more of a stoner song with that shoegazing feel. The guitar has a lot of reverb and there's a bit of deconstruction of the chords, not looking to sound clean the song has a good buzz to it. From Jakarta, Indonesia, Grow Rich is a great project, the two songs are fun and shows a how much variety the author has. They are clear you can hear all the instrument and clearly an odd to the 90s, i really enjoyed the songs and can't wait to hear more.
