Interview with Sleeping Field

Rezine: Who's playing in Sleeping Field ?

Sleeping Field is Max Vassart (vocals), Simon Talbot (guitar), Huy-Binh Nguyen (guitar), Pierre-Charles Payer (bass), and Michael Guglia (drums).

Rezine: You have a new EP out how do you describe it ?

Sleeping Field: The EP combines passionate, fast-paced, high energy sections with more delicate passages. We like to experiment with dynamics to capture different shades of intensity, aiming to create a raw and authentic experience.

Rezine: What influenced the music for this album ?

Sleeping Field: Every member of Sleeping Field has different influences but we can say the songs on this EP reflect a combination of the music we grew up with such as early 00’s post-hardcore/screamo (pg. 99, Thursday, Alexisonfire), heavier metalcore (Botch, The Chariot, Converge) with a healthy dose of Modest Mouse, and a light touch of black metal.

Rezine: What inspired the lyrics of the songs ?

Sleeping Field: The songs off this EP mostly deal with coming to terms with the end of relationships, the trials of adulthood, depression and anxiety. This record has been a great cathartic vehicle to discuss these more somber themes.

Rezine: What's coming up for Sleeping Field ?

Sleeping Field: We are holding our ep release show on June 3rd at the B.O.G. Facebook Event. All should come out. The entry fee is pay-what-you-can and we are playing with sweet local bands. The venue will transform into a full blown party after the band’s set and will feature two of our members playing DJ-sets well into the night. More show dates are soon to follow. The follow-up to our first ep should also be ready by mid-August.

Rezine: Do you have other projects ?

Sleeping Field: Michael Guglia plays drums for Saul Hittner and Binh is the guitar player for mayfields.
