Interview with Kürøishi
Rezine: Who plays in Kürøishi?
Kürøishi are Lene and Ilari on guitars, Timo on drums and Kaitsu on vocals and Jani on bass. We are from Oulu which is located northern part of Finland.
Rezine: How did it all start?
Kürøishi : We had first practices in February 2016 after our earlier band Terveet Kädet broke up. Three of us played in Terveet Kädet and actually in the beginning there were also drummer from last Terveet Kädet line-up playing in Kürøishi but he decided to concentrate different things in his life. We found new drummer Timo for Kürøishi one week before our first show which was in May. How Kaitsu came with us, was a sudden meeting in the street of Oulu after a crazy bar night when Jani crashed Kaitsu 5am in the morning and talked with him about starting rawpunk/d-beat/crust band someday... So he was a natural choice as a singer.
Rezine: What influences the lyrics of your songs?
Kürøishi : Greed,ignorance,destruction of mankind. All things positive in life.
Rezine: Does it take you a long time to come up with songs?
Kürøishi : Someone brings riffs in the practises and we finish new songs together usually in the same session. It´s pretty fast process in the end. Our singer who is making all the lyrics have his notebook full off his written thoughts so usually vocal parts are also finished in the same time. Of course there comes small changes and songs are progressing when we´re practising them but basic structure is coming without stress and hard work haha.
Rezine: Tell us about your promo album MayhemPunks?
Kürøishi : We recorded recently shit loads of songs and are now looking label to publish our album. I guess you find our “secretly hided” promo album from bandcamp which have our t-shirt design “The Second Sons of the Mayhem Punks” as a cover. In fact album is titled as “Poverty.Ignorance.Greed.Slavery" which you can say is main theme in the album.
Rezine: What's coming up Kürøishi ?
Kürøishi : Hopefully our debut album is coming out soon. The Other Record -label are going to release probably end of this year 4 way split cassette which contains 10-20 minutes music from each band which are Dispyt, Feastem, Khaos Nihil and Kürøishi. We have also talked to do tour in USA maybe next year and before that do shows as much as possible.
Rezine: Do you have other projects?
Kürøishi : All of us have also other bands/projects... here are few of them: Ilari and Lene is playing in Lapin
Helvetti and they are also playing in Plan E which is interesting band cause they have “only” three bass players and one drummer in the line-up. Kaitsu is singing in Finnish death metal band called Deathchain and Timo is playing drums in the Lambs.
